I am an aspiring coffee professional and experienced barista exploring the coffee industry. I am currently growing my skills in roasting, training baristas and latte art. Like many people, I originally looked at hospitality as a means to an end while studying at uni. But over time I grew to cherish the impact a cup of coffee could have on someone’s day. As my barista skills grew, I learned that making someone a cup of coffee is extremely rewarding. I strive for perfection with every customer, brew, pour, roast and training session because I recognise the effect it has on the end customer. My long-term goals in coffee are to help build an industry that operates sustainably and adds value to people’s lives at every level of the supply chain.
Assisting with production roasting on a Probat roaster, filling in for the head roaster for at least 1 day a week. Collaborate with the head roaster on potential green coffee purchases and tasting notes for new products. I also operate, schedule and host barista training sessions for our wholesale account owners and their staff.
Running efficient service with every drink served to perfection. Trusted with dialling in new guest coffees on espresso, aeropress and batch brew. I take part in bi-weekly cupping sessions with the head barista and managers to primarily taste for upcoming guest coffees.
Built long lasting and profitable relationships with customers by creating an energetic store atmosphere and by providing great espresso and food. I created espresso and tea drinks on La Marzocco Linear PB and Markibar Izaga grinder. I also smoothly ran the daily operations, trained staff and managed stock.
Ran efficient service of up to ten staff members at a time. Made coffee and tea drinks to perfection during busy service. Operated on a 3 group La Marzocco Linear PB and used 5-10kg of beans on weekdays and up to 20kg per day on weekends. Trained new staff members and management trainees in several aspects of the business including barista skills, cash handling, conflict management and stocktake.
