A complete coffee education program for a successful career in coffee industry. This program has been especially designed for promising young baristas who enjoy coffee and want to delve deeper into this growing industry. The foundation level for each of the six programs in the SCA Coffee Skills Program (CSP) are taught over 1 year. We also teach to professional level for the barista skills program.
The places are limited to 6 people. The cost of SCA membership, and the courses including all of the SCA CSP certificates is covered by the scholarship. The value of this is over: 3,500 euros per person.
To select the winners of the 6 scholarships we will use a merit-based selection process and remove any information relating to identity during the evaluation of applications. The first 20 candidates will be invited to an interview via a video call.

Learn the practical skills you need behind the espresso bar: learn how to set your grinder, milk techniques and latte art, health and safety, customer service, and basic business practices.
Learn about the variety of methods for brewing coffee and the brewing variables that affect quality. The Brewing module provides hands-on learning on grind profiles, brewing methods, measuring coffee strength and charting a coffee’s extraction.
Learn about the key concepts surrounding green coffee: production, processing, grading, shipping, storage, arrival at destination, as well as coffee contracts and portfolio management.
Learn about the roasting process, including roast cycle, roast levels, identifying defects, the physical changes that beans undergo during the roasting process, as well as workspace management and lean production.
SENSORY- Foundation
Learn about the essentials of sensory evaluation in a practical and interactive manner. Sensory Skills investigates the way we perceive what we taste, how to evaluate coffee’s natural characteristics, and implementing this knowledge in business.
In some regions, different courses or subjects will be added to further enhance the training.
This scholarship is unique in the coffee industry. It covers the broadest range of topics and includes the SCA membership and certificates as part of the package.
Simonelli Group s.p.a. is delighted to be offering 6 places in our Simonelli Youth Academy program for 2022. You need to be between the ages of 18 to 30 to apply.
This course is taught in Italian.
1. You must be a resident of Italy, able to reach Belforte del Chienti MC and stay in a hotel for short periods during the year (subject to restrictions regarding the pandemic - online courses are provided to overcome the restrictions).
2. We will schedule an interview with the first 20 candidates. The first 6 will win a scholarship.
